What you need to know about the Six Nations Rugby in Dublin 2024

The Six Nations are back, and what a time to visit Dublin. Ireland get their campaign underway away from home this year as they face off against France. Les Bleus narrowly lost against eventual Rugby World Cup winners South Africa in the quarter final. Ireland fell to the same faith at the same stage after a triumphant campaign.

With plenty three home match days in the 2024 edition, Ireland will look to fill the Aviva stadium with fans of the national rugby team. Lansdowne road has been synonymous with international artists and Irish sporting heritage for years. The Iconic stadium underwent a major refurbishment in 2007 that saw the old ‘Lansdowne Road' get transformed into the amazing sports venue it is today.

Nestled into a leafy suburb, this iconic venue can be accessed in many ways. Just a 12 minute dart from the city centre, the Aviva Stadium can be reached by foot too from Stephen's Green in just 30 minutes. A lot of people like to walk as you feel the atmosphere of the crowd through the streets as they launch into a rendition of Ireland's call.

The Lead up to the Six Nations

Ireland's loss could be their competitors gains, Irish Rugby Union announced that Sexton and Earls have retired from the camp. However, after Ireland's impressive grand slam win in 2023, you may find it hard to find another winner. The 2023 Grand Slam was the first home win in over 75 years.

England's Rugby World Cup campaign saw them finish in third place after an agonising last minute kick from South Africa in the Semi Final to win by one point. They face off against Italy to start and will hope to continue their fine form into the rest of the campaign.

Wales, like France and Ireland fell short in the quarter finals and will try to get back into winning ways this February as their Six Nations 2024 campaign kicks off. Wales fans will travel to Dublin after Valentine's day for their toughest test at the Lansdowne Road Stadium.

Having missed qualification from the Pool stages in the World Cup, Italy prepare for another tough run in the Six Nations. The Italian squad have 'won' the wooden spoon on 18 of their 24 appearances and this year may be no different for them.

With a strong performance in the 2023 Six Nations, Scotland will look to put on a show as they travel to the Dublin sports stadium on the final round of fixtures and put a stop to Ireland's potential Grand Slam, or Triple Crown hopes.
